The project “Generating Social Impact Through Filming (ENACTING)” is a two-year project co-funded by the European Union under the ERASMUS+ KA227 “Partnerships for Creativity” programme (Agreement Number: 2020-1-DE02-KA227-ADU-008316).
The main aim of our project is to design an innovative course on social documentary development and a virtual platform that will provide citizens with knowledge, skills and space to produce and share their own documentaries to address social issues in EU cities that share challenges and opportunities: Dresden, Marseille, Florence, Larissa and Athens. All 5 cities are moderate performers in the CCC Monitor [1], have diversified populations and immigration strains. All have deprived communities experiencing social exclusion. Additionally, Covid-19 created an unprecedented crisis, impacting education and CCS. The project focuses on urban areas that present high levels of cultural heterogeneity and social inequality:
- Hechtviertel & Neustadt (DE)
- La Belle de mai, Marseille (FR)
- Isolotto and Piazza Puccini, Florence (IT)
- Larissa and Athens (GR)
Cultural practice makes people reflexive and participatory, thereby developing individual and social capacities. This is identified as the intrinsic value of culture. When cultural practices translate into fields such as health and education, they have social and economic effects, such as preventing education dropouts, improving health, making people more resilient, growth more inclusive, etc.
